Tottenham flew to Portugal to against Sporting as their 2nd match of the Champions League. Many sites were predicting Tottenham would win, but Sporting was the first club who beat Tottenham this season.
I would say both clubs’ performances were not that good today. Especially, Tottenham players’ forms were very bad except Kulusevski who was sent in at 72 minutes instead of Son Heung Min. Yeah, Sporting is not an easy team to beat, and plus, it was an away game. I do understand that, but the club’s performance was still bad.
Anyway, Tottenham got scored twice in 3 minutes at 90 and 93 minutes. Sporting’s manager sent Paulinho who plays as a target man in at 76 minutes and he scored with his head from the corner kick. The manager’s bright strategy worked very well. The player, Arthur who was sent in at 92 minutes scored the second goal. He dribbled in from the left edge of the box and passed Royal so easily, then scored.
I would say today’s worst players were Harry Kane and Emerson Royal.
Kane tried to dribble twice but succeeded zero. He tried 4 times of ground duels but succeeded zero. All he did today was that won aerial duels twice, 1 shot (but no shot on target), and 1 successful cross. I don’t still understand why Conte didn’t send him out instead of Son Heung Min. Son played definitely better than Kane.
Royal had great chances to score twice in the box, but his finishing was horrible. Yeah, I do understand that because he is a defender. However. his defending and passing were also horrible today. He tried to cross 4 times, but only 1 succeeded. Overall, Tottenham’s pass accuracy was bad today, but he was the worst passer after Kane in the game with 73%… I don’t understand why Conte is still placing him on his first team… Yeah, Conte is sending him in because his defense is not bad, but his defense was not enough today.
I hope Conte places Doherty on the first team instead.
Tottenham’s next fixture is Leicester City this weekend at Tottenham’s home. I hope the club rebounds again.
What do you think?
