According to the world-class football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle signed Alexander Isak’s deal for a $70m fee with the Spanish club, Real Sociedad. He has already arrived in England. He will undergo medical soon. It is a club record fee for Newcastle.
Isak is a 22-year-old, Swedish footballer, who plays as a striker. Isak’s current market value is $33m, so Newcastle overpaid over 2 times. Newcastle has a lot of money since Saudi money took it over. However, they are not definitely a pushover. They are not spending their money on players that are not worth it. Therefore, Newcastle considers Isak has a great potential to overpay.
Isak is the future forward after Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Sweden Football National Team. I am pretty sure that he has great potential to become one of the top strikers in the future.
Why Newcastle signed on him?
Newcastle has two strikers currently, Callum Wilson and Chris Wood. Both players are not young. Wilson is 30-year-old and Wood is 31-year-old. Newcastle had to look for young strikers who can lead their attacking. Isak was the perfect option for them. The club bet on Isak with a lot of money.
Isak’s strengths and weaknesses:
Isak’s strengths are height(192cm), both feet, finishing, ball control, positioning, and fast speed. He has almost every strength that is needed to be a good striker. However, one concern is he is skinny. His weight is 77kg. He needs to bulk up and gain more weight to play in the toughest league, EPL.
