Marc Cucurella, 24-year-old, Spain football player, left-back and centre-back’s transfer saga has finally done! He will join Chelsea next season. Chelsea will pay $55m plus $7m add-ons. He already completed a medical test in Chelsea. He is about to sign documents. Official news will come out very soon.
Cucurella’s current team is Brighton & Hove Albion and Man City was strongly wanting to him sign with them. Brighton wanted at least $55m, but Man City’s maximum pocket was $40m. Therefore, signing didn’t happen between the two teams. Chelsea interrupted the signing and finally got him.

Why Chelsea really wanted Cucurella?
Brighton’s squad was 3-4-1-2 so it was 3 backs, and Cucurella was playing as a left-wing back or left centre-back. Chelsea is also using 3 backs squad system and Rudiger was on a left centre-back. Antonio Rudiger has now joined Real Madrid, so Chelsea really needed to fill it up. Marcos Alonso, left-wing back, will strongly join Barcelona next season. Chelsea needed a player who can cover both positions and Cucurella was a perfect option. He also played very well against Tottenham Hotspur the last season, so every Tottenham’s fans wished him sign with the team.
Cucurella has a good potential. From FIFA 22, it said his potential is 85, but I think it should be higher. He will grow more and more next season in Chelsea. His preferred foot is left and strengths are ball contorl, crossing, and hard worker. His weak point is heading because he is pretty short. I mean 172 cm is not that short around ordinary people, but it is short in the football world.

I am very look forward to seeing his play in Chelsea next season.
