Today, I want to talk about a former Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham is currently looking for an attacking midfielder. Tottenham has been in trouble with creative passes since Eriksen moved out in 2020. Tottenham signed Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele to replace him. Tottenham spent over $100m on them and they sold Eriksen on $20m. It is about 5 times of transfer fee, but they don’t still replace the Eriksen’s role. Lo Celso and Ndombele are totally villain in Tottenham haha. By the way, Eriksen was one of options to reach out in this transfer season and Tottenham was almost closed to sign him. However, Eriksen’s desire salary was too high. It was the same amount compare to Kane’s salary which is the highest salary in the team. The team didn’t want to accept it because other players would request higher salary in the future. Eriksen signed on Mancherster United because they could meet the salary. The former club, Brentford would meet the salary, but Eriksen wanted to play in the bigger team. Let’s talk about him in detail now!
Eriksen’s full name is Christian Dannemann Erkisen. He is a Danish professional football player and born Feb 14, 1992, in Middefart, Denmark. His father, Thomas was also a football player and one of coaches in Middleart G&BK which is the academy where Eriksen started football in 2004. He joined Odense Boldklub which is a Danish professional football club after the academy. Boldklub has won three Danish championships and five Danish Cup trophies so they are pretty great club in Denmark. His dribbling and free-kick techniques were impressived from Chelsea and Barcelona. Eriksen underwent trials Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Ajax, and Milan, but finally decided to move to Ajax. He said “My first step should not be too big.” I would say he was very smart. He developed very well in Ajax.
Anyway, he signed a two and a half year contrat with Ajax on Oct 17, 2008. The transfer fee was $1m. He started with a youth team and worked very hard to promote to the first team in Jan, 2010. He played 162 matches, scored 32 goals, and 42 assists in totall from 2010 to 2014 seasons.
Tottenham was very impressived by his playing and signed on a two-year contract with $11m transfer fee on Aug 30, 2013. He finished with 10 goals and 13 assists by the end of the 2013-14 season, and won the Danish Football Player of the Year award.
Tottenham signed Maurico Pochettino who is one of the best manager in the team history as new club manager on the 2014-15 season. He made 72 appearances, scored 16, and 15 assists on the 2014-16 season. He won once again the Danish Footballer of the Year in 2016.
He signed a four-year contract with Totthenham in 2016. He made 8 goals and 15 assists that was bettered only by Manchseter City’s Kevin De Bruyne who set up 18 goals for the season (De Bruyne is god). Eriksen broke the record for the most goals scored by a Danish player in the Premier Leauge on the 2017-18 season. The first record was Nicklas Bendtner. He was also named in the Professional Footballers’ Association Team of the Year for the first time on April 14, 2018. He continued playing well and became the second player to recod 10+ assists in four successive Preimier League seasons after David Beckham. You might realize now how he did well in the team. The team made 2nd rank in the Premier League and 2nd rank in UEFA Champions League Final on the 2018-19 season after Chelsea under Conte who is the current manager in Tottenham. If Conte was not in Chelsea on the season, Tottenham would win the Premier League:( Conte, you own a trophy from Tottenham!!!! Imao.
Eriksen was disappointed that Tottenham can’t win any trophies, so he wanted to move to a bigger club. His contract set to expire in six months on Jan, 2022. He signed a four and a half year deal with Serie A club Inter Milan for $20m. Levy didn’t want to sell him, but Eriksen really wanted to leave. Therefore, Levy chose to sell him over letting him leave for free. At that time, Conte was the manager at Inter, and Eriksen was struggling with his team because he was fit in Conte’s squad. He appeared 17 matches and played only 703mins comparing to 35 appearances and 3218 mins on the 2017-18. It was very big difference. Eriksen expressed his disappointed feeling on TV and said wanted to leave Inter. Eriksen had been added to the transfer list for 2021, but Romelu Lukaku helped him to be adapted due to the language barrier. He became better at Inter and Conte anounced Eriksen won’t be sold. Eriksen fianlly won the trophy of Serie A league at Inter on the 2020-21 season.
However, Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest against Finland on 2021. I think COVID-19 effected a bad on him. Erkisen went to hospital and attached a cardiac resynchronization on his heart. Unfortunately, the Serie A is not allowed to play players who attached the cardiac resynchronization. Everyone thought his player life would be finished at that time, but he followed rehabilitation very well. He could successfully join Brentford in the Premier League on a six month contract on Jan 31, 2022. Every teams knew that he is a good player, but didn’t want to sign him because they weren’t sure about he can still play football! I would think the same way if I was the teams. Between the date of Eriksen’s Brentford debut and the end of the season, he was named a 3nd chance maker after Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Odegaard in the Premier League. It was unbelievable to everyone. As I said in the beginning, Manchester United signed him on a three-year deal on July 15. 2022.
I bet he will be one of the best attacking midfield in Tottenham history. It would be a very great moment if Tottenham sign him again, but it didn’t happen unfortunately. He is being called a miracle player in the football world. I wish he will be happy in Manchester United.

오늘은 에릭센에 대해서 알아보았다. 에릭센은 손흥민의 팬이라면 모를 수 있는 선수이다. 2019년도에 준우승으로 하고 리그에서 2위를 했을때 손흥민, 케인, 알리를 포함한 핵심 맴버였고 없어서는 안되는 선수였다. 2020년에 에릭센이 나가고 토트넘은 여전히 에릭센을 대체할 공격형 미드필더를 찾으려고 은돔벌레(원래 이름은 은돔벨레) 랑 로셀소를 천억이나 주고 영입했지만 실패했다. 앞으로 토트넘에 에릭센만한 공미를 찾을 수 있을지 아직도 모르겠다. 이번 시즌에 레스터 시티의 메디슨이나 리옹에서 뛰고 있는 파케타를 영입 시도 중인데 가격이 비싸므로 쉽지 않을 것으로 보인다. 아무튼 에릭센이 맨유에서 안전하게 잘 뛰길 바라는 마음이다.
